The credential behind this offer

Kristy Rangel designed, piloted, revised, and trained staff on a life skills curriculum commissioned by the City of San Antonio for organizations serving disconnected youth ages 16–24. This was not an adaptation of someone else’s work. It was built from scratch, tested in real rooms with real young people, revised based on what actually happened when it was delivered, and then trained into the staff who would carry it forward without her.

"You have to show people you have solutions to their problems without telling them they have the problem.

That design philosophy is what makes curriculum reach populations that most curricula never get to."

— KRISTY RANGEL · THE FOUNDATION BUILD OFFER DOCUMENT

Who this is for

Organizations serving disconnected or opportunity youth (ages 16–24)

Young people not in school and not working who need life skills, workforce readiness, communication, decision-making, and financial literacy delivered in a way that respects their intelligence, earns their trust, and never signals they are the problem. This is the population Kristy’s existing curriculum was built for. It is the most tested, most refined version of this work.

Nonprofits, workforce development organizations, and city/county programs

Organizations with a curriculum gap, a staff capacity problem, or both and that need someone who can diagnose which is which before designing a solution. Organizations that have tried existing curricula and found they don’t fit their culture, their population, or their staff’s actual skill level.

Organizations with undertrained staff

Programs with good content but staff who struggle to deliver it with the relational presence and cultural responsiveness the population requires. Staff who know the material but don’t know when to set it down and respond to what is actually happening in the room.

Organizations building something new

Programs launching a new initiative, a new service line, or a new population focus that need curriculum built correctly from the start rather than adapted from something that was never designed for them.

Three scope levels

Discovery

Conversation

The fastest path for organizations whose population aligns closely with the City of San Antonio life skills curriculum. Kristy reviews the existing curriculum against your specific population and context, adapts it, adjusting language, scenarios, activities, and pacing and then trains staff on delivery. Includes needs assessment, adapted facilitation guides and participant materials, staff training (half-day to full-day), and 2–4 weeks of implementation support.

Custom Curriculum Design + Staff Training

For organizations whose population or content needs require building from the ground up. Full needs assessment, custom curriculum design (learning objectives, module sequence, activities, facilitation approach, participant materials), pilot session with revision cycle, complete facilitation guide, staff training (half-day to multi-day), and 4–6 weeks of implementation support post-training.

Full Foundation Build: Design, Train & Sustain

Everything in Scope B plus extended implementation support (6–12 weeks), live delivery observation and staff coaching, curriculum revision based on live delivery data, and a train-the-trainer component so the organization can onboard future staff without returning to Kristy. Designed for organizations making a long-term commitment to this curriculum and population.

The existing City of

San Antonio curriculum

Organizations serving disconnected youth ages 16–24 may choose to adapt this existing curriculum rather than build from scratch. Six modules all designed, piloted, and revised in real delivery with real young people in San Antonio.

Communication Skills

Speaking up, active listening, and professional communication - designed for a generation that communicates fluently through technology but struggles in face-to-face professional settings.

Decision-Making

A practical framework for high-stakes or uncertain situations. Normalizes the decision-making process without pathologizing where participants currently are. Built for young people who are often immobilized by choice or who make impulsive decisions under emotional pressure.

Financial Literacy

Foundational money management, budgeting, and financial goal-setting - contextualized for young people who may have no financial foundation from family. Taught without shame and without assumptions.

Workforce Readiness

The specific skills that separate someone who gets a job from someone who keeps it: showing up consistently, receiving feedback without shutting down, navigating generational differences in workplace culture. Addresses the gap between Gen Z’s self-perception and workplace expectations, without dismissing either.

Self-Management & Emotional Regulation

Tools for managing stress, navigating conflict, and understanding the brain science of emotional response, delivered in language that respects the young person’s intelligence. Addresses workplace tension around mental health days and generational differences in stress response directly and without taking sides.

Goal-Setting & Future Visioning

A closing module connecting all previous skills to a personally meaningful future. Built for young people who struggle to imagine a future that includes them and who need to see the connection between today’s small decisions and tomorrow’s real possibilities.

What makes the staff training different

Most curriculum training teaches staff what the curriculum says.

Kristy’s staff training teaches staff how to be in the room when they deliver it.

That is a different thing entirely.

Unlearning before learning

Before staff can deliver this curriculum effectively, many have to unlearn the assumption that authority earns respect automatically. With Gen Z populations, it does not. The training surfaces that assumption directly, names it without blame, and replaces it with a different orientation: you earn the right to teach them by proving you see them first.

Trust and rapport as the first curriculum

Staff learn that the trust-and-rapport sequence at the opening of every session is not a warm-up. It is the most important thing they do. If it is rushed or skipped, nothing that follows will land. The training drills this sequence until it feels natural rather than performed.

Knowing when to reach for the tool

The facilitation guide tells staff what to do. The training teaches them when. When a participant goes quiet. When the energy in the room shifts. When someone is on the edge of shutting down. This is trained through role play, observation, and practice, not a PowerPoint.

Feedback that doesn’t land as attack

This population personalizes feedback deeply. Staff learn the specific language and sequencing for delivering feedback in a way that preserves dignity, maintains trust, and actually changes behavior, rather than triggering shutdown or absence.

Ownership

All curriculum developed through the Foundation Build
is owned by the contracting organization upon completion.

There are no licensing fees or ongoing royalties.

You pay for the design and training. What gets built is yours.

Ready to build something that actually reaches them?

Every Foundation Build starts with a needs assessment. We won’t recommend a scope larger than what you actually need.

No charge. No pitch. Just Kristy doing the homework.
